‘Ensuring effective transition’  

APA National Transition Seminar, in partnership with the NPIA

1^st – 2^nd December 2011, Ryton, Warwickshire

The APA is delighted to announce details of a National Transition seminar for Police Authorities at the NPIA centre, Ryton.

This event will draw authorities and their partners together to help ensure we’re all fully prepared for the transition from police authorities to elected Police and Crime Commissioners on 15.11.2012.  

Confirmed speakers already include the Policing Minister Rt. Hon Nick Herbert, Sir Hugh Orde (ACPO President), Bill Crothers (HO Commercial Director and SRO for NewCo), Deborah Glass (IPCC Deputy Chair) and Her Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary, Zoe Billingham.

This event will run from lunchtime on Thursday 1 December to lunchtime on Friday 2 December and will focus predominantly on local transitional issues.  The programme will combine keynote addresses with the opportunity to share notable practice in practical workshops about all 12 transitional projects.  These workshops will be facilitated by the policy leads from the APA, APACE, PATS, Home Office and other partners.  There will also be an opportunity to learn more about the national transitional agenda, with inputs on the new Police ICT Company (NewCo) and the new Training, Learning and Standards Body. 

In this challenging financial climate, we are delighted to announce that this event is entirely free for APA members. The costs of delegates’ accommodation, provided food (full board including lunch on both days) and registration will be entirely covered thanks to the generous support of our hosts, the NPIA and sponsor, KBR.

This conference is the second (following the joint event held with the LGA in October) in what will be a series of events organised by the APA with partners over the coming months to assist every authority in their planning for an effective transition to PCCs next November.
