Who We Are

The APA Council is made up of members drawn from 47 member police authorities, including the 43 geographical police authorities, and members or associate members, representing centralised services, such as the British Transport Police Authority.  The Council is the main decision making body of the APA on major issues. You can find out more about Council membership here.

The APA Board leads on strategic decisions about APA business, and represents the APA in national negotiations.  Board members are local police authority members elected by APA Council members.  You can find out more about Board membership here.

The APA Secretariat is the central servicing and co-ordinating team for the APA.  We undertake the day to day business of the APA in supporting local police authorities and representing their views at a national level.  You can find out more about how to contact us and what we do here.
