This section contains guidance, jointly endorsed by the Association of Police Authorities and the Home Office, to help selection panels and police authorities undertake their important roles in the selection of independent members.
This guidance will supplement, but not supplant, the statutory requirements impacting on any selection round. The statutory requirements are, in any case, set out in the guidance.
